The role:

Mechanic – British Airways Maintenance Cardiff


This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a hugely skilled and experienced team carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, repairs and component changes along with large cabin/IFE modification programmes on the British Airways wide‑body Boeing fleet of aircraft (777‑200/300, 787‑8/9).


What you’ll do:

  • Maintain a safe working environment through adherence to quality, health and safety and housekeeping standards
  • Under supervision, complete maintenance tasks as directed on aircraft or components on time
  • Sign off work on completion within the full scope of individual approval
  • Driving and operation of vehicles, including mechanical handling, lifting equipment and elevated work platforms, to the limit of permits held
  • Ensure and support effective communications within the shift / team
  • Support the delivery of departmental and directorate objectives by seeking ways to improve work tasks, processes and environment

What you’ll bring to British Airways:
Skills / Capabilities

  • Good engineering hand skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective communicator within the shift / team
  • PC literate, can work with engineering systems and document management systems
  • Can work shifts. We currently work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern
  • Can work in confined spaces as required (fuel tanks)

  • Will work using own initiative
  • Always looking for the next work task

Your experience:

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and interpret engineering data (job cards and manuals)

Salary:

£30,678 per annum plus shift allowance £4,342 pa (4x4 days) or £9,116.86 pa (4x4 nights)
