Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

This is an exciting role within our Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team, focused on the design and development of improvements to product and processes to support manufacturing growth, new product, and continuous improvement projects!

Within this team, the Manufacturing Design Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring manufacturing and its support teams are planning and completing to the correct specifications, in the most efficient way possible, to deliver high value products, on time, to exacting quality standards.

To be most effective our MDE’s have an input in activities across the organisation and, as a result, have a unique ability to develop multi-functional relationships and contribute to the growth of both the MDE and their support teams technical capabilities.

To hit the ground and make an immediate impact, we expect MDEs to have a broad understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and a desire to continually improve processes to maximise yield.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Prepare feedback on Design for Manufacture to Product Design and New Product Launch teams
  • Create and maintain product specs and BOMs.
  • Manage specifications with Enovia PLM
  • Lead multiple projects, working multi-functionally with our Operations and Engineering Teams.
  • Investigate and resolve technical challenges on PCBA to support manufacturing processes – you will be able to troubleshoot at device level.
  • Release, update, and control of Standard Operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Provide technical or product guidance to Supply Chain and Outsourcing teams.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Generate, review, and approve Engineering Change Orders.
  • Implementing change, right first time, following our Product Lifecycle (PLC) process.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Is Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering or Electronics, Electrical Engineering field or has equivalent experience.
  • Has experience of Lean manufacturing implementation and application – 5S, VSM, SMED and cellular manufacturing.
  • Experience in CAD design, ideally Fixture & tooling design.
  • Experience in Electrical Troubleshooting – desirable.
  • Knowledge of Data Analysis (preferably Defect data) -> Root cause analysis
  • Is willing to travel to other KLA sites for extended periods to learn, document and move production processes.
