At CITB, we’re committed to shaping a competent, safe and future‑ready construction workforce. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Plant Mechanics to join our dedicated curriculum team and help inspire learners to excel in their careers.


Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)


Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 7:45am – 4pm, Fridays 7:45am to 12pm


Contract: Permanent


Grade: SC4


Target Salary: £53,303 per annum


Additional Benefits: Car Allowance £6,799 per annum


Location: NCC Scotland, 4 Fountain Avenue, Inchinnan Business Park, Inchinnan, Renfrewshire, PA4 9RQ


About the Role

As a Lecturer in Plant Mechanics, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding vocational training that reflects the latest industry practices and meets external awarding body expectations. In this varied and rewarding role, you will:


Teaching & Learning Excellence

  • Plan and deliver engaging theory and practical lessons aligned to industry standards
  • Create inclusive, high-quality resources that bring plant mechanics to life
  • Provide personalised support based on initial assessments and ongoing learner needs
  • Deliver constructive written and verbal feedback to help learners progress confidently
  • Support learners in developing English, maths, digital, and personal skills crucial for work and life

Quality & Curriculum Leadership

  • Lead curriculum teams to embed Ofsted EIF/SDS requirements in everyday practice
  • Conduct peer practice observations and participate in quality reviews and Desk Top Evaluations
  • Support new vocational instructors and assessors through induction, probation, and continuous development
  • Deliver CPD sessions to strengthen teaching, learning, and assessment across the curriculum

Learner Support & Progress Tracking

  • Track learner progress through the Learner Management System
  • Work collaboratively with Apprenticeship Development Coaches to ensure learner success
  • Participate in the learner‑at‑risk process, implementing strategies to keep learners on track
  • Provide high‑quality information, advice and guidance to support career progression

Industry & External Partnerships

  • Maintain strong links with employers, industry experts and awarding bodies
  • Stay up to date with developments in plant mechanics, new equipment and teaching methodologies
  • Ensure all safeguarding, welfare, and health & safety requirements are upheld to the highest standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of Level 3 vocational qualification directly related to the role
  • Specialist licence to practice qualifications relevant to the role (e.g Using Plant Equipment)
  • Relevant industry experience in the construction industry in a related role
  • Excellent knowledge of current industry practices
  • Level 5 teaching qualification (or commitment to achieve within two years of commencing course)
  • Assessor Awards (or commitment to achieve within one year of commencing role).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths or demonstrate proficiency at Level 2 or above through a recognised assessment in both subjects.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in Microsoft Office 365
