SUMMARY

Gozney is growing rapidly, both in demand for our existing range of products and by adding exciting new products into the range. Every product undergoes ongoing improvement to enhance customer experience, streamline manufacturing, and maintain our industry leading standards.


As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of key design workstreams across new product development and continuous improvement. You will provide technical leadership, guide design direction, and ensure alignment across engineering, product, and operations. You will transform early concepts into validated, manufacturable solutions and lead projects through our NPL process. You will also mentor other engineers, help shape engineering best practice, and act as a key decision maker in driving the evolution of the Gozney product range. This role requires a high level of autonomy, cross functional collaboration, and technical leadership. Within Gozney, Senior and Lead are equivalent levels of responsibility.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Ownership

o Lead mechanical and product design activities across multiple projects, ensuring strong engineering direction and decision making.

o Act as a technical authority and subject matter expert for mechanical systems and manufacturing methods.

o Mentor junior and mid level engineers, providing guidance, design reviews, and skills development.

o Champion best practice in design, documentation, verification, and data management.


Product Development

o Develop and refine concepts into manufacturable solutions in collaboration with theNPI team.

o Own the design of products from concept to launch, including models, assemblies, and drawings for manufacture.

o Lead design reviews and ensure robust resolution of engineering challenges.

o Guide cost optimisation throughout development.


NPL and Cross Functional Delivery

o Drive designs through the NPL (New Product Line) process, owning engineering deliverables, timelines, and risk management.

o Work closely with Project Managers to maintain project deliverables and ensure milestones are met.

o Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturers to optimise DFM, quality, and cost performance.

o Coordinate validation and verification activities, including DVP&R, FMEA, and prototype testing.


Continuous Improvement

o Review existing products, identify opportunities for enhancement, and lead engineering changes.

o Develop and execute cost down initiatives without compromising performance or quality.

o Partner with CX, Marketing, and Sales to capture user feedback and identify product improvement opportunities.


Cross Team Collaboration

o Build strong relationships with engineering teams globally.

o Support vendors, troubleshoot supply challenges, and identify alternative solutions as needed.

o Share expertise across the organisation to elevate engineering capability.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

o Minimum of 10 years industry experience in Senior or Lead design roles, preferably in a related field and ideally with experience in gas products.

o Degree in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 2:1 classification.

o Excellent proficiency in 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks.

o Experience with InDesign, Illustrator, or Composer is a plus.

o Knowledge of DDM or other PLM or PDM systems is advantageous.

o Strong understanding of diverse manufacturing processes, especially metal fabrication, sheet metal, and castings.

o Experience with injection moulding is an advantage.

o Ability to produce detailed design drawings to BS8888.

o Clear communication skills and confidence providing leadership and direction to other engineers.

o Ability to lead design activities independently and manage several workstreams concurrently.

o Showcase problem-solving skills, highlighting your ability to navigate challenges.

o Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and root cause analysis, underscoring your capacity to address issues systematically.
