Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for applicants interested in developing their career in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy here at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The role is offered as a 12-month, fixed‑term, part‑time contract. It is based at North Tyneside General Hospital but staff may be required to work across the Trust. Patients are referred from a variety of sources including ED, WIC, and the orthopaedic consultant team. CPD is actively encouraged, and training is supervised by Senior Physiotherapy clinicians to support staff in achieving their individual learning outcomes. There are no on‑call or weekend commitments associated with the current role.


Junior Rotational Scheme

  • The junior rotational scheme operates throughout the Trust and involves working in a wide range of clinical teams including musculoskeletal, orthopaedics, general medicine, elderly care, neurology, rehabilitation, surgery, ITU, paediatrics, Women’s Health, and front of house.
  • Rotations are set at six‑month intervals to provide a broad range of post‑graduate experience.
  • Junior staff are accountable to a Team Leader and ultimately to the site clinical manager.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality, the Trust is opening a state‑of‑the‑art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.
