Highly Specialist Acute Paediatric Physiotherapist in OP

We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to work for as part of a collaborative CEW multidisciplinary team assessing and treating children with complex obesity and its related severe health complications using innovative and new strategies in paediatric care.


You’ll be the lead physiotherapist for CEW service at RMCH working collaboratively with physiotherapists from the national network of CEW services to develop effective pathways of care for these patients.


Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity for a physiotherapist with an interest in and experience of MSK for childhood muscle and joint conditions and injuries; this includes specialist physiotherapy management of children and young people with chronic conditions as well as acute MSK conditions and post‑operative rehabilitation. Confidence in delivering evidence‑based physiotherapy to children and young people with MSK conditions is therefore essential.


A qualification in hydrotherapy is desirable to deliver hydrotherapy to children and young people with complex presentations in our state‑of‑the‑art hydrotherapy area.


Please note the CEW clinics extend past 4:30 pm and clinics run across multiple MFT sites.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an efficient and high‑quality highly specialised physiotherapy service for patients within a specialist field.


As a highly experienced autonomous practitioner they will assess, diagnose and treat patients of their own case load of inpatients and/or outpatients/community patients and provide support to shared‑care clinics.


The post holder will manage and provide leadership for qualified physiotherapists and assistants and supervise students.


Identify, coordinate and undertake continual professional development, clinical audit, research activities and in‑service training within specialist area.


Identify and progress opportunities for service development within specialist field.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Broad postgraduate clinical experience in a rotational post, including both in a rehab and inpatient capacity
  • Significant experience at a specialist level in the relevant field
  • Extensive knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques (in relevant area), including examples of complex clinical reasoning
  • Experience of teaching/education including the ability to modify to suit the needs of under‑performing staff/students
  • Experience of clinical governance including examples of service development, audit or quality improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, including examples of complex communication with a range of people – staff and patients/parents
  • Experience of handling a variety of sensitive situations, including examples of complex staff and patient management (capability and complaints)
  • Completion of clinical educator's course and evidence of relevant post‑graduate education

Qualifications

  • BSc in relevant field or equivalent (evidenced by HCPC registration)
  • Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Audit and Research training to a postgraduate level
  • Completion of a postgraduate management course e.g. LEO
