Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our small maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work within a dynamic environment, contributing to the smooth running of our fleet. The position requires a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.

Hours ideally full time or less for the right candidate. Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

* Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify mechanical issues.
* Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, brakes, transmissions, suspension systems, and other vehicle components.
* Maintain accurate records of all repairs, servicing, and parts used.
* Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
* Assist in the diagnosis of complex mechanical problems using specialised tools and equipment.
* Collaborate with team members to prioritise workload and meet operational deadlines.
* Keep work areas clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

* Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role specialising in heavy vehicle maintenance.
* Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
* Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment effectively.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Valid UK driving licence suitable for HGV vehicles is desirable but not essential. This role is ideal for a committed professional seeking to develop their career within the transport industry while ensuring fleet safety and reliability through expert vehicle maintenance.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £17.00-£21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
