Job description: Position: Garage Mechanic/Fitter Location: McQuillan Quarries, Dundrod Responsible to: Workshop Manager Contract type: Full-time permanent Salary: Competitive Working hours:39 hours per week as well as overtime during mornings, evenings and weekends (weekends on a rota basis), which is a requirement for the role. This role will require someone with a 'can do' attitude, a commercial approach and demonstrable attention to detail. The successful candidate will report to the Workshop Manager and must be hardworking, reliable, and possess excellent communication & inter personal skills. In return you will be awarded a competitive salary, variety within your role, the ability to build upon your existing experience within the profession and the opportunity to work within a friendly and supportive team. Key responsibilities: Keep equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades and controlling corrosion; Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling major assemblies components or parts; Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems; Comply with legislative vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards; Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting; Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options; Visiting sites to carry out repairs to plant on site. Essential Criteria: Full Driving licence; NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or similar; Minimum of 3 years experience working on large plant and small tools; Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections; Excellent communication skills; Strong analytical/problem-solving and time management skills; Capable of working independently; Ability to work in a safe manner in a quarry and construction environment; Closing date for all applications:Friday 20th March 2026.
