Salary range: £50,000 to £70,000 pa depending on experience

Location: Glasgow, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester, Plymouth (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office and working from home)

The Frazer-Nash Asset Integrity Teams are set up to provide knowledge and understanding on the integrity and design of mechanical structures using innovative analysis and assessment approaches. We support our clients by delivering expert guidance on the safe and efficient operation of their assets. The team supports clients in defence, aerospace, energy (nuclear and renewables) and transport. The projects we deliver focus on supporting assets that are high value, high performance and/or safety critical. The work we deliver ranges from substantiation of new designs to supporting life extension of critical plant.

There is significant demand for these experience across the life cycle of nuclear programmes from small modular reactors, new builds, power generation, life extension, defueling, and decommissioning. To that end we are seeking to recruit skilled engineers that can ensure we meet our clients’ requirements. A particular of expertise that is in demand is in the analysis and assessment of pressure vessels.

Applicants wishing to join our team should be able to demonstrate their experience of conducting work considering pressure vessels. They should be able to provide evidence that they have experience with FEA, fatigue, fracture and/or fitness-for-service. They should have experience undertaking analysis and assessments of pressure vessels against relevant industry codes and standards (ASME, BS, API). Candidate should hold expertise in design by analysis of pressure vessels.

Experienced engineers who want to join the team should have a proven history of leading the delivery of projects. They should understand how to form effective teams with the capabilities needed to meet customer requirements. They should also have experience in the supporting the development and mentoring of junior member of the team.

Requirements

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent. MEng, MSc or PhD would be desirable.
  • Ability to travel and conduct site visits and plant walkdowns
  • Technical knowledge in the mechanical / structural engineering domain.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (including Abaqus, Ansys or LS Dyna).
  • Experience with codes and standards, such as ASME III, ASME VIII, API579, BS7608, BS7910, R5/R6.

Our business is delivered as a consultancy. It would be advantageous, but not essential, if a candidate has:

  • Experience in a technical consultancy environment.
  • Experience of business development.
  • Experience of building client relationships.
  • Experience of project management.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
