Overview

To manage the commencement of effective maintenance of mechanical services for catering equipment within the Trust’s Establishments. To oversee and manage the servicing, reactive repairs, and deep cleaning of catering equipment. Liaising with the catering management team, organising sub-contractors, reviewing contracts, and creating and maintaining an asset register of all equipment.

To be the lead for water safety in accordance with HTM 04-01 in healthcare premises, which includes water safety plan implementation and updating, operational control procedures, audit risk assessments, water sampling and monitoring to BS 8552. To maintain water systems to mitigate the risk of preventable waterborne diseases such as Legionella and Pseudomonas.

This post is part of Estates service that may transfer to an NHS wholly owned subsidiary in the next six to 12 months. The NHS subsidiary will continue to offer NHS AFC Terms and Conditions to transferring staff and new employees who join after the transfer date in 2026. This advert closes on Thursday 13 Nov 2025.

Responsibilities
  • To manage the maintenance on the catering equipment and oversee servicing, reactive repairs, and deep cleaning; liaising with the catering management team and coordinating sub-contractors; creating and maintaining an asset register of all equipment.
  • To be the lead for water safety in accordance with HTM 04-01 in healthcare premises, including water safety plan implementation and updating, operational control procedures, audit risk assessments, water sampling and monitoring to BS 8552; maintaining water systems to mitigate risks of waterborne diseases.
  • To manage the maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration assets and to take ownership of hydro pool maintenance and testing requirements.
  • To work with the Senior Estates Officer, Estates Officer Mechanical, Estates Officer (Compliance) and Estates Officer (Electrical) to ensure effective, cost-controlled provision of day-to-day maintenance services and to liaise with directly employed labour mechanical & electrical teams and contractors to achieve Trust objectives and best value.

  • The post holder will follow national standards, guidelines, and departmental and Trust operating policies and procedures.
