Overview

The post is for an anaesthetic consultant in a busy division providing anaesthesia for cardiac, thoracic, cardiology and critical care. A variety of sessions would be available and can be tailored to suit the appropriately qualified candidate. This post attracts a 10 PAs locum consultant job plan including 1.5 SPA for a period of 12 months, starting as soon as possible. The job plan will be adjusted according to the ability to do emergency on call commitment after a period of assessment with remuneration at 2 PA. The successful candidate will have full secretarial support, a personal computer (training available if required) and office accommodation.

Location options include Liverpool and surrounding areas within Merseyside, with access to a recently renovated Catheterisation Suite and other hospital facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic services for a wide variety of specialist areas including cardiac, thoracic, cardiology and critical care.
  • Work within the Anaesthetic Department to support teaching, training and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in regular education and audit activities, including critical incident meetings and joint mortality and morbidity reviews with the surgical division.
  • Engage with the Trust's Clinical Governance and Appraisal System and contribute to undergraduate medical education and senior trainee training.
  • Contribute to the training of juniors in clinical training and formal teaching as required.
  • Maintain familiarity with safeguarding, information governance and health, safety and risk management policies as outlined by the Trust.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Fully qualified anaesthetist with training and experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and related critical care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior staff and trainees.
  • Ability to participate in on-call duties and adapt to flexible clinical on-call requirements as assessed.
