You will be undertaking the full assessment, management and referral of a diverse group of service users with urgent injury and illness presentations. The role includes supporting junior team members, undertaking remote consultations, shift leadership and supporting service improvement through audit and project work. We offer access to regular internal training and external higher education developmental opportunities including courses such as Independent Prescribing.


Responsibilities

  • Autonomously provide patient centred care, including assessment, shared care planning and appropriate referral of service users.
  • Undertake a variety of consultation types including face to face, telephone and video.
  • Utilise advanced clinical examination skills to support diagnostic reasoning and patient centred care plans.
  • Utilise Patient Group Directions or Independent Prescribing (desirable) to appropriately manage patient presentations.
  • Undertake shift leadership role to ensure the smooth running of the department. This will include prioritisation of workload based around available resources, support for the clinical and non‑clinical teams, acting to ensure the safety of patients and team members and liaising with management and external partners.
  • Support unit safety by effectively carrying out initial assessment and prioritisation of presenting patients.
  • Provide clinical expertise and advice to colleagues and junior practitioners. This will include formal mentoring of junior colleagues and healthcare students.
  • Support the UTC management and colleagues to deliver robust clinical governance and service improvement programmes.
  • Use your skills, knowledge and experience to deliver safe and effective care to our service users.

About the UTC

South Bristol Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) offers same day urgent care for minor injuries and minor illnesses. The unit is open 8am – 8pm seven days a week.
