The vacant post is full time working 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This includes undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculo-skeletal/sports and training injury areas.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:



  • To perform highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred by the Medical Officer (MO) or regional physiotherapy teams. Presentations may be diverse including complex and acute/chronic physical and psychological conditions plus sports injuries. To use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
  • To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based on evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning.
  • Development and maintenance of your own personal, Service and Professional Standards at the highest attainable levels through continuing professional development activities and maintenance of a portfolio.
  • To formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning.

The interview will consist of a mix of direct questions and clinical situation-based scenarios.


There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6‑month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.


Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

Person Specification
Experience

  • Must have relevant experience in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries and orthopaedic conditions.
  • Must have relevant experience in the application of manual therapy and exercise therapy.
  • Must have relevant post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Completed the relevant courses and experience that would be equivalent to graduate diploma level of study.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate clinical experience.
