The vacant post is full time, fixed‑term, working 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Main duties of the job

The role will give full support to the Line Manager in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This will include undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculoskeletal/sports and training injury area.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:



  • Perform highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred by the Medical Officer or regional physiotherapy teams. Presentations may include complex and acute/chronic physical and psychological conditions plus sports injuries. Use clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
  • Formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment programme based on evidence‑based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent, good understanding of their conditions and maximise rehabilitation potential. Be aware of communication barriers such as English as a second language.
  • Adhere to Ministry of Defence (MOD) policies while delivering a service within a MOD establishment.
  • Support and attend weekly and monthly Special Interest Group and Clinical Governance Meetings where audit, research, service and policy development is presented within the multidisciplinary team environment.

The interview will consist of direct questions and clinical scenario‑based scenarios.


Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Salary will be pro‑rata for part‑time hours.


All new hires will be subject to a 6‑month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.


Successful candidates must meet the security check required for the role.


Access to the NHS pension scheme is available.


You will need to provide evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B. Serology levels will be required; lack of sufficient evidence may result in withdrawal of the offer.

The post does NOT offer relocation expenses. Non‑Standard move applicants may be eligible for the full package, subject to eligibility.

Person Specification
Experience

  • Relevant experience in assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries and orthopaedic conditions.
  • Completed relevant courses and experience equivalent to graduate diploma level.
  • Good IT skills and organisational and interpersonal skills; able to work under pressure.
  • Minimum of 4 years post‑graduate clinical experience.
  • Completion of appropriate Musculoskeletal Services (MSK) courses.
  • Injection therapy experience.

Qualifications

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
  • State Registered Physiotherapist (HCPC).
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.

Registrations and Memberships

  • Memberships to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and the Health Professions Council (HCPC) required.
  • Provide your membership registration number.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body prior to submitting the application.
  • Applications without a valid registration number will not progress.
