Job Description:
Ground Support Equipment Mechanic UPS East Midlands Airport (EMA)
UPS is seeking a skilled and experienced Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join the team at East Midlands Airport. This is an airside role , working in a well-equipped workshop environment, supporting critical airport operations.
Youll play a key role as a senior mechanic , maintaining and repairing essential equipment used in aircraft handling and operations.

What Youll Need Level 3 qualification in HGV Mechanics (or equivalent)

Proven experience as a mechanic (GSE or heavy vehicles preferred)

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

Experience diagnosing and repairing complex equipment faults

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Full, clean driving licence

Ability to obtain airport security clearance

Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset

Comfortable working both independently and within a small team

Desirable:
Previous experience in an airport environment (ideally EMA)

23 years of relevant experience in a similar role

What Youll Do Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on GSE

Work on equipment such as deck loaders, cargo tractors, air start units, and ground power units

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults

Perform scheduled servicing (fluid changes, filters, adjustments, etc.)

Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, and major components

Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Collaborate with the team to prioritise and complete repairs efficiently

Ensure workshop cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards are met

Stay up to date with industry regulations and technical developments

Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and suppliers
