Aircraft Mechanical Fitter - Rotary Wing

UK Military Flying Training System (UK MFTS) - H135/H145 Fleet
Reports to:

UK MFTS (RW) Supervisors
Mon - Fri / 08:00 - 17:00 / 40 hrs per week.
Key Areas
Completed a formal aviation apprenticeship or related discipline.
Ideally Experience on Airbus Helicopters. But needs helicopters in general.

Role Overview
The Aircraft Mechanical Fitter plays a vital role in supporting the UK Military Flying Training System's rotary wing operations. Based at RAF Shawbury, this hands-on position involves maintaining and servicing the H135/H145 helicopter fleet to ensure optimal performance and safety. Though non-certifying, the role is essential to the daily functioning of flight operations and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with aircraft movement, line maintenance, and base maintenance of the H135/H145 fleet
Perform inspections and repairs under the direction of Shift Supervisors or Certifying Engineers
Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure safe aircraft operation
Complete maintenance tasks on airframe structures, power plants, mechanical and electrical systems in line with OEM instructions
Carry out off-aircraft component and composite work in workshops as needed
Support hangar operations, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping
Required Knowledge & Skills
Essential
Strong understanding of engine and airframe systems
Familiarity with specialised test equipment for engine and airframe diagnostics
Up-to-date knowledge of:

Flight and airport operations
Aircraft line maintenance
Aircraft base maintenance

Desirable
Awareness of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS procedures
Understanding of CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Completed apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or a related discipline
Experience in base maintenance, flight operations, and line maintenance
Desirable
Experience working with H135/H145 helicopters
Exposure to Airbus Helicopters products
Background in military aviation
Performance Expectations
Maintain aircraft availability levels above 98% at Shawbury, including during deployments
