The Opportunity

Due to an exciting restructure within the team, we are currently seeking an active and contributing staff member to join the Performance Support Team, with a primary focus on supporting the Performance Therapies stream.

This role will play a key part in delivering high-quality support at both group and individual player levels across the Academy, Pre-Academy, and Foundation phases.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Provide competence, integrity and consistency in the Academy Performance Therapies programme, by supporting and providing cover for the following events where necessary:
    • Pre Academy and Future Blues sessions
    • Injury clinics for U7-14s – Diagnostics, injury management, rehab delivery
    • U7-14 match days and tours
    • Other sessions as required
  • To work alongside the other members of the Performance Therapies and Medicine team, including external specialists in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of players in line with current evidence-based best practice – providing clinical challenge appropriately in the best interests of the player and team (availability and readiness, short and long term)
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation with the rest of the Performance Support team, especially in
    • Ensuring adequate medical coverage for the PreAcademy and Future Blues development centers and escalating high risk activities as is necessary.
    • Providing support for communicating salient information about the players to age group lead ahead of time.
  • Support effective communication with key members of the Performance Therapies, Performance Medicine, and Performance Support teams as necessary
  • Communicate with appropriate staff at the training grounds regarding medical provision, first aid and treatment room
  • Promote and model a growth mindset within the Performance Support Team, through the active support of Professional Development (structured/unstructured, technical/soft skills, on the job/in a classroom), commitment to Personal Development Plans

What You’ll Bring

  • BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent European physiotherapy qualification
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • FA Level 5 Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF)
  • Indemnity through professional registration to £10 million liability
  • Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team within a sports medicine environment preferably with younger athletes
  • Sound understanding of long-term athletic development and the physiotherapy approach integrated within this
