The Role

To support delivery of a physiotherapy service to Manchester United Academy on a casual session basis. The position will predominantly involve providing pitch side cover for weekend & evening games, tournaments in the UK and abroad and evening training sessions. The position will also support rehabilitation clinics including assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of players across the U9-U16 age groups.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lead Academy Physiotherapist YDP/FP and Academy Physiotherapists with provision of the physiotherapy service to the U9 to U16 Players of Manchester United
  • Liaise with the Head Academy Physiotherapist, Lead Academy Physiotherapist YDP /FP, Academy Doctor and other medical professionals to provide a high level of medical care for the U9-U16 players
  • Liaise with the coaching staff, athletic development and other MDT staff members as required regarding the medical and physiotherapy management of the Academy players
  • Maintain membership of the CSP and the HCPC. To follow the Rules of Professional Conduct and Core Standards of Physiotherapy Practice as per the HCPC and CSP regulations
  • Ensure that full accurate physiotherapy records are kept in accordance with CSP standards for all medical interactions with Manchester United players
  • Provide physiotherapy match day cover to the under U9-U16 teams (home and away)
  • Implement individual player assessments, treatments and rehabilitation programmes as part of the medical team
  • Maintain up to date First aid qualification (ITMMiF for higher) and attend bi-annual pitch side competencies
The Person
  • Post qualification experience (Band 6 or above), preferably including rotational experience in a general hospital setting.
  • Experience in sports injury management, ideally including experience in youth sport
  • A higher degree in a relevant subject would be an advantage; or a willingness to undertake study to gain such qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility / availability to cover shifts at evenings and the weekend
Desirable
  • Hold an ITMMIF or ATMMIF FA accredited qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a paediatric setting
Hours of Work

As this is a casual post, work is as required by the Head Academy Physiotherapist / Lead Academy Physiotherapist YDP/FP. This will include working evenings and weekends and may include tours and tournaments, some of which may be abroad.
