NXP Semiconductors, Automotive Processors, Solutions & Applications, Glasgow, UK, (3 month Summer Internship)

The mission:

The car is becoming a computer on wheels, and AI is moving from the cloud to the edge; right onto silicon. Our S32N automotive MPUs pack proprietary AI IP blocks that let carmakers run machine learning where it matters: in the vehicle, in real-time, safely.

We're looking for an AI-native intern — someone who reaches for an LLM, a notebook, or a model as second nature — to spend time with our Glasgow team working on real edge-AI problems with real automotive silicon.

What you'll actually do:

  • Get hands-on with our S32N MPUs — helping prepare, optimise and deploy ML models onto real hardware.

  • Prototype AI use-cases and help turn them into demos.

  • Write clean, modern code and use AI coding assistants and automation as everyday tools.

  • Learn alongside a global network of experienced engineers who'll help you grow fast.

What we're looking for:

  • A 3rd or 4th year student working towards a degree in Computer Science, Electronics, AI/ML, Software or a related field.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML basics and Python — and genuine curiosity about LLMs and modern AI workflows.

  • Some software fundamentals (any C/C++ a bonus) and comfort with version control (git).

  • A builder's mindset: you like learning by doing and aren't afraid of a problem without a textbook answer.

  • Clear communication and enthusiasm to jump in.

Why it's worth it:

You'll get real experience at the ground floor of edge AI in automotive — real silicon, real problems, and a team that'll back you to experiment, learn, and bring us fresh thinking we don't yet have.
