Key Responsibilities

Three exciting and dynamic roles within the R&D team has arisen in the form of a year-long internship as Mechanical Placement Engineers. This role will introduce the successful applicants to the lifecycle of product design down to nanometer scale measurement via the New Product Development and Engineering Change processes. Due to the varied nature of projects running through the R&D department, there will be interaction with numerous different departments within the business, and the Mechanical Placement Engineer will be encouraged to liaise and cooperate to maximise the outputs of individuals, departments, and business unit, thereby having a positive influence on corporate goals.


Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop CAD/FEA skills alongside practical metrology principles
  • Use developed skills to integrate into design reviews so the department can reach the desired outcome meeting specifications and criteria specified by customers, be it internal and external.
  • Work on concepts and drive them towards prototypes for testing and evaluation under the mentorship of a senior or principal engineer
  • Communicate effectively through a range of methods to ensure all stakeholders can make informed decisions and see the influences these choices have on the next stage of a project.

Required Skills

  • CAD knowledge (SolidWorks preferable)
  • Numerical analysis skills, using hand calcs through to simple FEA/CFD computation
  • Strong communicator through various mediums

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with an expected 2:1 classification as a minimum.
