Overview

Band 6 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist. This role is suitable for a band 5 or 6 with experience who wishes to build skills in the specialty of Community respiratory service. The post works as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support patient-centred care with the vision: Investing in our patient community, empowering them to live well.

The community respiratory service offers specialist outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits to provide holistic assessment and treatment for patients with long-term respiratory conditions. A comprehensive venue-based pulmonary rehabilitation program is provided. Our service aims to deliver multidisciplinary input for the comprehensive management of patients with long-term respiratory conditions.

We work holistically toward patient-led goals, providing rehabilitation and intervention to maximise patients\' potential. We utilise evidence-based practice and invest in staff to provide the knowledge, skills and training required to deliver this care, using each other\'s expertise and our rehabilitation assistants to maximise intervention impact.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the MDT to offer structured pulmonary rehabilitation assessments and classes in line with local and national guidelines.
  • Undertake timely audits to benchmark service quality and standards against national QI targets.
  • Contribute to home oxygen service assessment and review.
  • Provide airway clearance therapy for patients under the care of the respiratory service.
About the Service

The Sutton Community Respiratory Service consists of a multidisciplinary team offering specialist, comprehensive assessment and intervention. We work with adults in the Sutton area of South West London who have chronic respiratory conditions.

The post holder will be part of the MDT delivering structured pulmonary rehabilitation assessments and classes, with additional responsibilities in service quality auditing and home oxygen assessment/review as described above.

We are part of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, serving approximately 490,000 people in southwest London and northeast Surrey. We provide additional specialist services in a wider area, including parts of Sussex and Hampshire, and work with NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton to deliver high-quality care to diverse communities.
