SERVICE ENGINEER REQUIRED IN TELFORD, SHROPSHIRE

Are you a Mechanically Biased Service Engineer, or a Mechanical Engineer seeking a new job out on the road predominantly covering the South of the UK?

We are actively seeking a Service Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Telford, Shropshire. The standard working hours are day shifts, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week). The basic salary is around £35,000 per annum, with overtime opportunities available and paid at T1/2 for anything worked over 37.5 hours in the week and on a Saturday, and double time on a Sunday. If a Bank Holiday is required you will also receive double pay for working this day + a day back in lieu.

Although the hiring manager is looking for someone who is predominantly mechanically biased (90% Mechanical), they would like someone who has some Electrical experience.

We are looking for someone who holds a certificate/qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or similar). While the preference would be to find someone with previous experience in the recycling industry, they are happy considering candidates who have a background in a Heavy Engineering environment and who have previously worked on Heavy Machinery or Heavy Equipment.

A company van, laptop and phone will be provided.

What You Will Do
  • Use your skills in welding, fabrication, and mechanical maintenance to address diverse operational needs.
  • Ensure equipment is running smoothly by diagnosing faults and repairing baling machines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to prioritise and adapt to daily operational demands.
  • Adhere to health and safety best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Leverage your expertise in industrial hydraulics and heavy fabrications to deliver high-quality repairs.
  • Be prepared to travel for work, both within the UK and abroad, ensuring the company\'s operations remain uninterrupted.
What You Will Bring
  • Proven experience in manufacturing or factory environments, ideally within heavy industry or the waste sector.
  • A minimum of 3 years\' experience as a multi-skilled mechanical engineer.
  • Hands-on expertise in welding (Stick & MIG), fabrication, and general engineering.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical abilities to reduce equipment downtime.
  • A clean driving licence and valid passport, with the flexibility to travel as required.

As a Service Engineer, you\'ll play a crucial role in ensuring the company\'s equipment and operations run smoothly, contributing to its reputation for reliability and excellence.

Location

This business is based in Telford (Shropshire), but this role will be predominantly covering the South of the UK.
