Following expansion into the USA and our opening of our European Office, we are thriving in all business areas and have exciting plans ahead. Projective has an immediate requirement for Technical Engineers with expertise in utilities and process design of all levels.

You will be working on complex industrial and engineering design projects with large scale global manufacturing clients. Ideally, you will have a range of Utilities Engineering design knowledge.

Additionally, you will oversee and sign off work produced by our Engineers, supervising them and supporting their development as they progress from Graduate level through our career paths. As such, you will need significant experience in a variety of Mechanical Engineering skills and technologies in order to improve and add value to each project.

This is a pivotal client facing role and candidates will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills in addition to extensive relevant industrial experience.

The role highlights:

Act as a principal Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to partner with clients on various projects from concept/feasibility through to detailed design.

Experience working as a client focused engineer, delivering on projects, typically within manufacturing facilities/factories and projects relating to utility plants and systems.

Experience of modelling and implementing changes to existing and new utility pipeworks and systems.

Provide expertise in application, understanding and key principles of heat recovery, heat pumps, and chiller technologies as well as various other utility engineering technologies.

Process design and checking and assisting preparation of flowsheets, PFDs, and P&IDs

Able to work on sustainability and decarbonisation projects and use holistic analysis of existing processes to determine the best solution for each scenario.

Propose innovative technology or solutions and to add further value to these assets.

Perform calculations to size process and utility equipment such as pressure relief valves, line sizing, control valves, etc.

Drive the continuous improvement process and mentoring of developing engineers within the organisation.

Sets and upholds standards of operating excellence using the BMS and internal processes.

Essential Skills and Interests:

Mechanical/Process or Chemical Engineering Degree (ideally we seek MEng)

Significant demonstrable leadership experience in application of chillers, heat recovery and heat pumps and other utility technologies

Senior Technical Engineering SME role experience within a manufacturing process or within a Consultancy.

Technical knowledge of HVAC and other industrial utility plant practical applications

Practical expert knowledge of other utilities systems including boilers & steam plants, refrigeration & cooling systems, compressed air systems and water treatment.

Able to sign off verified work; technically responsible for final approvals of other engineers’ outputs.

Strong I.T. general and technical skills, Microsoft Office inc. Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Visio etc., and any other project software packages such as MS Project

Excellent Excel and data analytical skills

A clear commitment to personal continuous professional development, able to lead by example.

Managerial experience, coaching and line management, supervising and delegating

Focused on the content accuracy of engineering knowledge and expertise in design mech Eng.

Qualifications and Additional Requirements:

Chartered Engineer with a recognised institution.

Degree in a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline.

Highly PC Literate – MS office, MS Project plus other relevant software.

Current Driving License and access to a car.

Additional European Languages such as French or Italian are a significant bonus.

Starter – Completer work ethic, accountable and able to lead with confidence.
