Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join our Band 6 rotational programme at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Band 6 looking for a fresh challenge or a suitably experienced Band 5 ready to take the next step in their career.

This is a permanent, full-time position, with Worcestershire Royal Hospital as the official base. The successful candidate will be expected to rotate across all three of our Trust sites and may include some community rotations.

Our diverse rotational offer provides an exceptional range of clinical experience and development opportunities. You will gain valuable skills across areas such as:

  • Medical & surgical respiratory care, including ITU, head & neck, and the NIV service
  • Orthopaedics
  • A&E
  • Acute stroke & other neurological conditions
  • Neurological outpatients
  • Community Neurology
  • Frailty
  • Oncology
  • Musculoskeletal outpatients
  • Pelvic health
  • Rheumatology and hydrotherapy
  • COPD with support to the virtual ward
  • Paediatrics

You will benefit from regular supervision, in-service training, and access to specialist clinicians to help develop your clinical and leadership skills.

We are committed to your professional development. You will be encouraged to engage in ongoing CPD and contribute to the education and supervision of junior staff.

There is the requirement to participate in our on-call service, as well as weekend and 7-day working rotas, depending on the rotation.

Main duties of the job

Working as an autonomous practitioner, to provide high quality patient focussed care through assessment, diagnosis, development and delivery of individual treatment programmes.

To take the responsibility for own caseload within a defined area of service or for a particular patient type.

To provide supervision, support and education to qualified and unqualified staff and students.

To participate in departmental audit in support of evidence-based practice.

To communicate with the MDT as appropriate to provide comprehensive assessment to determine admission prevention as appropriate to given speciality.

To undertake outpatient activity as appropriate within area of speciality.

To contribute to our 7-day service on a rota basis dependant on specialty of work. To complete on call over a 24 hrs period / complete weekend working as appropriate to speciality.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Effective and appropriate written communication skills
  • Comprehensive clinical knowledge and skills in core areas and within speciality
  • Effective team working skills
  • Understanding of Professional, Legal and Clinical Governance responsibilities
  • Understanding of current NHS issues

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • Teaching skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Presentation Skills

Essential Experience:

  • Appropriate and broad experience in core rotations (can demonstrate a broad range of knowledge from different specialities) or within speciality if a static post
  • Experience of working in an acute NHS environment
  • Evidence of relevant and recent CPD
  • Supervision and development of assistants and students

Desirable Experience:

  • Training of other MDT members
  • Active participation in audit or research
  • Experience of working in speciality at a senior level

Other Essential Requirements:

  • Able and willing to commute between sites
  • Able and willing to work across 7 days and take part in on call duties through a 24 hour period
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
  • Commitment to working in Worcestershire
