Role overview

Senior Physiotherapist role at Exeter Hospital. You’ll have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You’ll bring excellent clinical reasoning and rehabilitation skills, and a commitment to developing as a practitioner. You’ll be a confident communicator, skilled at engaging with all kinds of people.

You will have clinical support from your Regional clinical lead and on-site leadership from the management team. A CPD budget is available to support ongoing learning and clinical excellence. The role offers a mix of face-to-face work across sites or working from home delivering triage hours.

The role

The role will be a mixture of musculoskeletal outpatients and inpatient work covering orthopaedics and some general surgery. Hours are flexible but must include working on the inpatient ward on Fridays from 08:30 to 18:00.

You will see a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and post-operative cases, helping patients achieve, maintain and recover to the level of health and wellbeing they aspire to.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team including nurses, AHPS and consultants to optimise patient health and recovery. The hospital is committed to supporting and mentoring the successful candidate through academy training programmes.

As a Senior Physiotherapist you will
  • Deliver high quality clinical care.
  • Adhere to our values and beliefs at Nuffield Health.
  • Deliver excellent clinical care that is evidence based, safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive to patient needs.
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring of the standard of treatment provided.
  • Be compliant with professional, clinical and governance standards and participate in clinical audit and quality assurance processes.
  • Work in both inpatient ward and outpatient clinic settings, with participation on the weekend ward rota.
To succeed as a Senior Physiotherapist you will
  • Have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • Have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience.
  • Have experience in both musculoskeletal outpatients and inpatient ward work.
  • Have a high level of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic knowledge.
  • Understand and have experience of both the Public NHS and Private healthcare service.
  • Demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development and CPD activities.
  • Be a confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with patients, the public and other healthcare professionals.
  • Be able to auscultate a chest.
  • Be a competent and confident IT user with strong organisational skills.
  • Be able to prioritise and manage a varied workload efficiently.
  • Be prepared to work on the wards as part of the weekend rota.
