To ensure a viable, efficient, and reliable energy future for all.## Job Description Piping Engineer – Nuclear Engineering (Assystem) Location: Central Glasgow (Hybrid: 2–3 days/week onsite) Type: Staff or Umbrella ContractorJoin Assystem’s dynamic, multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting one of our major client . As a Piping Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of infrastructure across major operational sites. Summary of the RoleYou’ll work alongside Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical, and Building Services Engineers to:* Develop and maintain Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents* Manage and assess design changes and concessions* Present design justifications to nuclear safety committees* Produce and maintain EIMT (Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing) schedules* Review and assess Periodic Safety Reviews and technical documentation* Provide expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders* Apply advanced piping and process design principles in a nuclear/high-hazard environmentExperienceEssential: Proven experience as a Piping Engineer in industrial plant and machinery environments Strong understanding of British & European design standards and best practices* Practical experience across concept, detailed design, and construction stages (preferably industrial or maritime projects)* Skilled in design assessment of plant and equipment to withstand hazards* Proficient in pipe stress analysis Capable of producing robust technical justifications and documentation for design modifications in high-hazard industries* Experienced in contributing to multi-disciplinary engineering projectsDesirable: Previous experience in high-risk or nuclear environments Familiarity with HAZID/HAZOP and safety case development Experience in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), including safety-related structures, systems & components Knowledge of UK and US nuclear regulations, codes, and standards Qualifications & TrainingEssential: Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience Willingness to complete a Nuclear Introductory Course within 6 months (if from a non-nuclear background)Desirable: Engineering Degree (BEng/MEng)* Chartered Engineer (CEng) statusDue to the nature of this role the successful candidate will require Security clearance.
