About the Role

A respected UK-based engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract to support the delivery of water infrastructure projects across the UK. This hybrid role offers flexibility to work from offices in Manchester, Leeds, or Chester, with travel to project sites as required.


You'll be involved in the design and implementation of mechanical systems for clean water, wastewater, and sludge treatment facilities, contributing to sustainable engineering solutions within the UK water industry.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors under framework agreements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop equipment specifications.
  • Perform site inspections and provide technical recommendations.
  • Support client engagement through proposals and project planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3-6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in the water sector.
  • Strong technical skills in mechanical design and specification.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in mentoring or team leadership is a plus.
