My client, a market leading Building Services Consultancy who specialise in sustainable infrastructure and innovative low carbon builds, are searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team near St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will join a supportive team based in Cambridgeshire to complete sustainable HVAC designs for education, healthcare, leisure, residential, and commercial developments across the UK.

Responsibilities
  • As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be expected to complete detailed mechanical designs including heating, ventilation, plumbing and air–conditioning using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • You will also be expected to complete 2D and 3D models, perform heat load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, or Elite).
  • Prepare and review mechanical drawings, schematics, simulations and technical specifications in accordance with building codes, sustainability goals, and project requirements.
  • Design to BIM level 2 in accordance with British Standards PAS 1192–5
  • Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, and structural engineers to ensure coordinated MEP layouts and avoid design clashes.
  • Attend internal and client meetings to resolve design issues/queries and align project objectives.
  • Review designs submitted by the team and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information).
  • Site visits to monitor installation quality, verify compliance with original designs and highlight issues during construction.
  • Evaluate new materials and designs ensuring energy efficiency and cost–effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to have a BSc and/or an MSc Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering and have experience working for UK based Consultancy completing detailed HVAC designs for residential and commercial developments using AutoCAD and Revit.

You are also required to have experience managing projects, mentoring team members and have a detailed knowledge PAS 1192–5 and other relevant codes. You will also be expected to have a keen understanding of BREEAM and net zero.
