What You’ll Be Doing

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering theories, concepts, practices, principles and approaches. Able to apply theoretical engineering knowledge, experience & skills to develop products & services, specifications, able to resolve technical & performance issues and problems for a product or service.

  • Apply and adhere to company policies and or procedures
  • Provide support to Mechanical Systems and equipment within the scope of the Submarine Support Motion Control Contract
  • Develop solutions to a range of Mechanical design problems or situations
  • Work as part of a wider project team under limited technical supervision
  • Understand and apply a range of design processes, tools, systems and techniques
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and with other functions
  • Perform self-verification of own tasks to ensure completeness and quality to arrange checking of work by appropriate authority
  • Answer and provide support to manufacturing, assembly, test and operational technical queries from internal and external stakeholders where required
  • Apply knowledge and experience of Engineering Governance and assurance processes (e.g. Application of Life Cycle Management)
  • Support and lead on continuous improvement activities both inside and outside of Submarine Support Motion Control
  • Review, amend, and draft technical documentation (e.g. Reports, Test Procedures)

Essential

Your skills and experiences:

  • Engineering degree or working towards CEng level (or equivalent level of capability)
  • Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering
  • Ability to make judgements based on own knowledge and experience of similar situations
  • Ability to assess the viability and applicability of solutions, evaluate alternatives based on an understanding of common or previous solutions to problems and analysis of factual information

The Submarine Support Motion Control Team

BAE Systems Submarine Support Motion Control Team provides comprehensive service and support to mission critical Motion Control Systems for the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet.
