A Senior Mechanical Engineer is required for an international Defence and Weapons Systems Company that is expanding their team. Salary and seniority will depend on your skills and experience. This position will require full‑time on‑site presence and only sole British nationals will be accepted.


The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team and will support technical changes to existing company products (i.e. Defence and Weapons Systems).


The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be involved in Mechanical Design, Tests and Trials and will have the opportunity to shape the next generation of defence/weapons platforms and future technologies.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the package of design evidence required to justify a safe, effective design and generate customer confidence in the design solution.
  • Specify and assist in the build of prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing.
  • Provide timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues.
  • Ensure that commitments are agreed, reviewed and met.
  • Mentor junior engineers regarding technical matters.
  • Make presentations effectively to technical and management audiences and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets.
  • Author and co‑author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations as required.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science subjects.
  • Able to design documentation and present these to customers and wider groups.
  • Skilled at solving complex engineering calculations.
  • Have an engineering life‑cycle background.
  • Proficient in CAD, MS Office and comfortable with other IT applications.
