An opportunity exists for a General Rotational Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our Therapy Service team at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Hospital. The Therapy Services Department is committed to providing an excellent environment for professional growth and offers regular training, supervision and support for career progression. Our overall aim is to provide the highest standards of care to patients through the provision of evidence informed practice. Applicants must be HCPC registered.

• Be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients in your care.
• Carry and prioritise your own designated clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner with regular supervision from your supervisor.
• Determine patients’ understanding of physiotherapy intervention to gain valid, informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
• Use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools when communicating with patients/carers to maximise rehabilitation potential, including those with dysphasia, deafness, dementia, mental health problems, or language barriers.
• Work across rotations in Respiratory, Medical Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Hand Therapy, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Paediatrics, Emergency Department, Pelvic Health and at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
• Participate in seven-day working and the on-call service as required by rota.

• Maintain professional behaviour and promote a positive image of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in line with Trust values.
• Comply with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Health and Care Professions Council codes of professional conduct; maintain HCPC registration.
• Take responsibility for personal continuous professional development through self-education, reflective practice and active participation in in-service training; maintain a CPD portfolio.

• Manage an effective daily caseload, prioritising clinical work, meetings and training; work flexibly according to staffing levels.
• Carry an identified bleep as required by rotation and respond to unpredictable work patterns and interruptions.
• Make appropriate referrals to other physiotherapists and multidisciplinary team members; coordinate joint sessions as required.
• Ensure timely communication of assessment findings, treatment and outcomes to other involved disciplines (e.g., social services reports, discharge letters).

• Carry out assessment and treatment using manual and therapeutic handling techniques requiring moderate to high physical effort and concentration.
• Comply with the Trust manual handling policy at all times.
• Work alone at times, including domiciliary settings.
• Deal sensitively with patients who have high levels of anxiety or aggression due to pain, fear, or dementia.

• Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies. The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and proof of full vaccination may be sought during the recruitment process.
