Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) is the premier organization for mechanical hardware design, development, production, and research. Responsibilities
  • The candidate will report directly to the Interconnects Design Section within the Tactical Radars and Effectors (TRE) Department. The Interconnects Design Section provides complex interconnect solutions for above and below sea combatant platforms, mobile and stationary ground platforms, missiles, manned/unmanned programs across all platforms and onsite support. Engineers will perform research, design, and support to the build and development of military and commercial interconnections for all these platforms. This will include control, fiber optic, high power, high voltage, radio frequency, and waterproof interconnections.
  • Design and develop interconnects using CREO to verify cable path, length, interfaces, and integration with mechanical and electrical flow down. Create and review sketches, diagrams, and drawings in CREO, AutoCAD, and Windchill. Produce schematic diagrams, interconnection diagrams, cable assembly drawings and associated component control drawings.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for schedule, financial, and technical goals; exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives.
  • Represent the Mechanical Engineering organization as the prime technical contact for cable & harness interconnect design.
  • Interact with high-level representatives on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations and suppliers.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (Electrical, Mechanical)
  • Eight (8)+ years of experience in interconnects design
  • Proficiency with Creo and large assembly management, PTC Windchill Product Data Management (PDM), Technical Data Package releases and CN/CR and IRs
  • Hands-on experience from concept definition through detailed design and transition manufacturing within interconnect domain, including interconnect manufacturing and field troubleshooting
  • Prototype and rapid hardware program development build and mechanical assembly experience
  • Working knowledge of interconnect component parts, their application, and major suppliers for interconnection components industry including connectors, backshells and wires
  • Demonstrated knowledge of component military specifications, codes, standards, test specifications and associated QPLs and QMLs for connectors, coaxial cables, multi-conductor cables, interconnection cable & wire and fiber-optic cables
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Frequent technical contact with the customer and senior personnel inclusive of requirements, IRAD, future technical needs, etc.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently to execute a higher-level strategy
  • Detailed experience using AutoCAD, CREO, CREO Routing, and CREO Schematic
  • Adaptability and willingness to work on multiple assignments concurrently
  • Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements
  • Willingness for minimal travel (domestic and international)
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions typically require STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
Salary, Benefits, and Employment Details
  • The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. This range is a good faith estimate and depends on experience, location, and qualifications.

Benefits vary by business unit and may be subject to a collective-bargaining agreement.
  • Short-term and/or long-term incentive programs may be offered depending on position level and bargaining agreement coverage; programs are not guaranteed and depend on performance and business conditions.
  • This role is U.S.-based. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, appropriate pay structure and benefits apply.
