Principal Mechanical Design Engineer | Competitive Salary | Hybrid Role | Stevenage

Fancy taking your mechanical design expertise and using it to develop solutions for a multitude of complex weapons and weapon systems, for one of the leading defence companies in the UK?

With opportunities to work in all areas of the Product Life Cycle, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across the business, you will take the technical lead in developing mechanical solutions.

What will aid your success?

  • Ideally Degree, HND or HNC qualified with significant experience in mechanical design and development
  • Strong leadership in managing mechanical design packages
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments and understanding the challenges involved
  • Knowledge of qualification and verification processes to meet technical requirements
  • Proficient in robust design practices such as DFMEA, DFA, and DFM
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with both internal and external suppliers
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability in a diverse workplace
  • A proactive and professional approach, with strong prioritisation and multitasking capabilities
  • Understanding of structural, thermal, or dynamic analysis is a plus
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD/CAE tools (training on our preferred platforms will be provided)
