The Role

  • Oversee the provision of Rehabilitation Services
  • Deliver PDP Rehabilitation on a daily basis to enable return to fitness in the most optimum time frame.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist and Academy Head of Medical in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured players, primarily focusing on the U18s.
  • Organise weekly rehabilitation meetings and formulate individual rehabilitation plans.
  • Liaise and communicate with all relevant stakeholders including, but not exhaustive of, coaching staff, parents, psychologists, national team staff, education staff, player wellbeing and external specialists.
  • Liaise closely with the Academy Reconditioning coach and other sports science staff to develop a holistic approach.
  • Build on existing work practices to further develop the service.
  • Uphold club, medical department, health & safety, ethics and safeguarding protocols, acting as a role model to players and staff alike and reflecting the club’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Employ awareness of welfare issues, handling all matters with the utmost professionalism, diplomacy and sensitivity.
  • Attend refresher and development training when necessary.
  • Be aware of emergency procedures and the Health & Safety at Work Act relating to the various sites.

What you will bring – Specific Experience

  • HCPC membership
  • Professional Physiotherapy registration (e.g., CSP)
  • ATMMiF certification
  • FA Safeguarding Certificate
  • BSc or MSc degree level qualification in Physiotherapy
  • Strong background with postgraduate experience
  • Experience working full time in a high‑performance team environment
  • Experience within football at PDP level or above. First‑team experience advantageous.

  • Maintain high professional and personal standards.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, valuing and respecting others.
  • Ability to present to parents, coaches and other clinicians.
  • Constantly seek to improve the service delivery of the Academy Medical Department.
  • Commitment to relevant continuous professional development.
  • Ability to analyse available data and profile injuries.
  • Ability to design and implement strengthening and pitch‑based rehabilitation programmes.
  • Flexible to cross‑cover other roles in the Academy Medical Department where required.
  • Understanding of developmental paediatric musculoskeletal issues.
