Multi:Skilled Engineer (Mechanically Biased) – role at TipTopJob. Location: Harlow, Essex. Salary: GBP53,000 – GBP55,000. Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:15pm or 2:00pm to 10:15pm.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out both electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs on high-speed food production lines, packaging machinery, automation/control systems and associated equipment
  • Work closely with the engineering manager to create new SOPs, PPM plans and schedules for newly installed production lines and packaging machinery
  • Monitor production line efficiencies, suggest improvements and monitor real-time data; take a self-starter approach to continuous improvement
  • Combine hands-on maintenance with improvement activities
  • Install and commission new machinery and production lines
  • Contribute to continuous improvement project work and Factory Acceptance Testing
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Must be a multi-skilled engineer: mechanically biased
  • Hands-on engineer who can also carry out machine condition monitoring, asset care management and project work
  • Experience in a project-based role: suggest improvements, create new SOPs, PPMs
  • Experience in food manufacturing
  • Strong mechanical fault finding and repairs skills: hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, drives
  • NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC Engineering
  • Knowledge of creating new PPM plans and schedules
  • PLC/electrical fault finding beneficial
  • Use of SAP beneficial
  • Time-served/apprenticeship
  • Strong communicator: able to work with engineering manager, production teams, quality
  • Ability to think on own initiative and work unsupervised
  • Flexible attitude to new machinery and working hours
