Role Summary

To provide a leading Occupational Health Physiotherapy Service to clients with the aim of early return to work. This involves a positive bio-psychosocial approach combining functional assessment with evidence-based treatment, underpinned by excellent clinical care. The role provides the following services on a remote basis: triage phone calls, supported self-management, functional restoration programmes, DSE and Workplace assessments.

The role requires you to provide occupational health services across two different clients within the North East. The post holder must be able to cover onsite working two days per week in Darlington from 08:30 to 16:30. The other three days involve supporting a separate client, completing two days onsite (hours 13:00–21:00) and one home-working day (08:30–16:30). You will complete a mixture of occupational health assessments, fitness to work reports, and follow-up reviews across both onsite and home-working days. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.

Monday – Onsite Darlington 08:30–16:30

Tuesday – Onsite Darlington 08:30–16:30

Wednesday – Onsite Gateshead 13:00–21:00

Thursday – Onsite Gateshead 13:00–21:00

Friday – Home Working 08:30–16:30

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, detailed, and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to employees on a remote or face-to-face basis.
  • Identify, assess, and advise on any workplace hazards or contributing factors to Musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Conduct workplace assessments such as DSE or work-based tasks as required and provide advice and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Always maintain clinical objectivity and impartiality in line with occupational health guidance.
  • Deliver effective evidence-based rehabilitation that adheres to national clinical standards.
  • Utilise a bio-psychosocial approach combined with functional assessment to address barriers to work and inform robust work recommendations.
Experience, Skills, And Knowledge Required For The Role
  • Clinical Physiotherapy Qualification.
  • Full Member of the CSP & Registered member of HCPC is essential.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience post registration
  • Post-graduate training in Occupational Health/Ergonomics.
  • Previous experience or an interest in Occupational Health Physiotherapy.
  • Experience of providing functional assessment and fitness for work advice.
  • Driver license & access to a vehicle.
