We are seeking a dedicated Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW to join our team at HMP The Mount, a category C & adult/male prison.

Join a team that works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, creating a safe environment.
HMP The Mount operates like a self-contained town, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As an Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW, you'll work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS, seeking an Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW with:

  • At least two years' experience as a steam boiler operator or similar
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Familiarity with BG01 - safe operation of boilers
  • Experience with commercial or industrial steam, heating, and water systems
  • Plumber qualification to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, and NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
