Job Title: Mechanical Systems Support Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base

Salary: Up to £39945 depending on skills & experience

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serve as a liaison between design houses and project functions
  • Resolve production queries during project delivery, investigate engineering issues, provide solutions within delegated authority and design intent and support project functions, Assist with ship trials and surveys
  • Assist Production Teams in meeting requirements and standards
  • Operate within the functionality of the appropriate tools and techniques (e.g. AutoCAD etc) as directed by his/her supervisor
  • Carry out investigations into operational problems or developments, develop, and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a team
  • Support the development of best practice to increase the capability, performance of tools and processes
  • Keep up to date in relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services (seeking and sharing good practice and knowledge to continuously improve practices), and supply technical support and expertise to others as required

Your Skills And Experiences

  • Knowledge of Marine Mechanical Systems
  • Has a depth of understanding within own discipline and is able to discuss and understand context and implication of technical issues across a limited number of other engineering disciplines pertinent to Ship Engineering
  • Experience of Interfacing / communicating with key Stakeholders
  • Experience of repair, maintenance and integration of ships systems and equipment
  • An understanding of the external environment including the MoD structure and their engineering processes

The QEC CI Liaison Team

Working within a compact team of engineers providing both reactive and proactive engineering solutions for the QEC platform, liaising closely with Ops teams, Warship Technical Authority and Design Houses to ensure that all solutions meet platform standards, frequently working to tight schedules enabling platforms to meet their operational programs.

Delivering technical oversight for the integration of system installations early in the design cycle, ensuring constant improvements by capturing historical LFE throughout project planning phases and providing a hub for technical information during the installation phase.
