Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Fawley

Job Type: Full-time - 37.5 hours per week

Reed Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our clients Maintenance team based at Fawley. Responsibilities

  • Conduct repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including rotating mechanical components such as gearboxes, mixers, and various types of pumps.
  • Provide detailed Preventative Maintenance (PM) Reports for integration into our Computerised Maintenance System.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed safely and effectively, adhering to appropriate legislation and company procedures. Assist in developing Task Risk Assessments and Method Statements as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose faults, monitor the performance of mechanical equipment, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage the availability of spare mechanical components, coordinate the procurement of spare parts, and oversee materials through the Workshop.
  • Participate in both planned and reactive maintenance activities on a batch chemical processing site, supporting the maintenance team as needed and developing skills to enhance overall maintenance service delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Completed an appropriate mechanical fitter apprenticeship or similar qualification.
  • Proven experience in the repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to work at heights or within confined spaces (training provided).
  • This role is based on a chemical manufacturing plant, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and air operated pumps.
  • Welding qualifications for stainless steel and carbon steel pipework fabrication.
