Shift Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

PRS Recruitment Agency is proud to be working on behalf of one of our most prestigious clients in London We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a highly respected company within the building services sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to secure ongoing work with excellent hourly rates and professional development opportunities.


Key Responsibilities



  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a commercial site.
  • Responding promptly to emergency call-outs and resolving faults efficiently.
  • Undertaking a variety of mechanical and electrical duties, including:

    • Minor installations and electrical fault-finding
    • Lamp and ballast replacements
    • Control panel inspections and maintenance
    • Power distribution checks
    • Emergency lighting tests and repairs


  • Servicing air conditioning systems (AHUs and FCUs), including filter changes and cleaning.
  • Monitoring and resetting chillers.
  • Performing routine water treatment tasks, including temperature checks and monitoring.
  • Maintaining pumps and motors.
  • Taking regular readings from Building Management Systems (BMS) and UPS systems.

Candidate Requirements



  • Recognised mechanical trade qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in building services maintenance (preferably within commercial environments).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • A proactive, reliable, and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
