About the Role

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Instrumentation Technician to supplement the field service team as a focal point/lead for the manufacturing installation/integration of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Hydrogen Gas Control Systems.


you will act as a technical lead on projects and also as a part of a larger team for construction and commissioning scopes.


This is a unique opportunity to support all established and developing areas of engineering through Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Marine and Renewables.


The position is focused in the Tees Valley however there is a requirement to travel to support the development of these industries and the company’s expectations for the growth of the Teesside Team.


Essential Experience, Qualifications And Competencies

  • Suitable Vocational training in relevant field of engineering (e.g - C&G, ONC)
  • Hands on experience in Hydraulic, Pneumatic or Instrumentation service industry
  • Competent in Small Bore Tubing installation
  • Ability to read and understand Hydraulic and Pneumatic schematics, P&ID’s and GA’s
  • Experience in overhauling and testing of pumps, motors and control valves
  • Hands on experience in trouble shooting, servicing and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Hands on experience in hydraulic bolt torquing and joint integrity
  • Hydraulic accumulator pre- charging, maintenance and servicing
  • Comfortable working away from home and being reactive with regards to customer requirements
  • BFPA Cetop level 2 or Industrial hydraulics/pneumatics certificate course.
  • Working at height course.

Desirable Experience, Qualifications And Competencies

  • Diploma in Mechanical/hydraulics or Instrumentation engineering
  • Experience in working in Oil and Gas, Marine and Petrochemical industries
  • Knowledge and experience of working with high pressure gas management systems
  • Knowledge of ship board and marine hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of electro hydraulic control of pumps
  • Commissioning of hydraulic pneumatic equipment
  • Chemical cleaning and flushing of piping systems
  • Parker product knowledge
  • Advanced hydraulics training certification
  • Training in pumps and electro hydraulic pump controls.
  • Shaft alignment and measurement certification
  • PSSR training
  • Mobile hydraulics training
  • Pump servicing and Wind Turbine hydraulics training
  • Proportional and servo control systems.

About the role

This role is central to ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and safely, with a strong emphasis on proactive safety engagement through Toolbox Talks and daily activity planning.


You’ll be responsible for reviewing customer-supplied schematics, P&IDs, and general arrangements to define the scope of work and determine the necessary tools and equipment. Your expertise will guide the preparation of material take-offs and consumables lists, ensuring all project requirements are met with precision.


From producing detailed method statements and risk assessments to leading the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of complex fluid and gas systems, you’ll be at the forefront of technical delivery. You’ll also oversee the in‑house manufacturing, overhaul, and testing of hydraulic equipment—ensuring all work meets Hydrasun’s high standards of quality and aligns with customer specifications and project timelines.


This is a hands‑on, technically demanding role that requires a proactive mindset, strong leadership, and a commitment to excellence in both safety and engineering standards.
