What You’ll be doing:

As a vital member of the Engineering, Assurance and Compliance Team (EnACT), the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for delivering technical governance and assurance across mechanical and saltwater systems and equipment at HM Naval Base Portsmouth. Your role will ensure that all systems are safe to operate and fully compliant with legislative and regulatory standards. With a background in mechanical engineering and qualifications to HNC level or higher, you’ll bring proven experience and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions in a complex maritime infrastructure environment.

You’ll take ownership of technical challenges, oversee the acceptance of mechanical elements in project designs, and ensure alignment with design intent. Your responsibilities will include producing and managing safety management systems for designated asset groups, supporting strategic infrastructure plans, and contributing to business improvement initiatives. Proactive communication and collaboration with team members will be key to resolving technical issues, while your input will also support the development of Asset Management Plans and the assessment of asset condition.
