YOUR TEAM - The Bristol office


  • You will be joining a team with a strong forward workload / order book stretching into the middle of next year.
  • You will be growing a growing team with lots of medium term opportunities for career progression.
  • You will work closely with likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging projects.
  • Building Services in Bristol consists of 25 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers as well as sustainability consultants who form part of the National MEP Team of nearly 400 MEP engineers.

A little more about your role…


  • Meeting the requirements of an 'Engineer' grade and have a proven track record of working on projects for your discipline as part of the overall project team.
  • Able to work using your own initiative with supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline.
  • Able to work under the clear direction of the discipline lead or the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.
  • Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline.
  • Proficient in completing detailed design and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue and providing design and technical advice with a multidisciplinary approach on a wide range of projects.
  • Review and input where required to the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works


What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
Key Technical Requirements


  • Proven understanding of the UK and European regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this in project execution
  • Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)
  • Have working understanding of latest mechanical design software packages to allow the allocation/ direction of work on projects
  • Experience of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation/ direction of work on projects
  • Have an ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively
  • Show working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects
  • Knowledge on Part L regulations applicable to the discipline and demonstrate this through calculation
  • Have working understanding of TAS or IES to allow the allocation/direction of work on projects


Mechanical Design Skills


  • Working knowledge of Hevacomp
  • U value calculations
  • Heat loss & gain calculations
  • Pipe sizing (LTHW, CHW, HWS, CWS etc), Pump sizing, Duct sizing, Fan sizing
  • Psychrometrics
  • Control valve sizing & authority
  • Thermal modelling
  • BMS Systems


Qualifications


  • CIBSE/ IET/IMechE Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience that will lead to Chartership
  • IES or TAS training applied to the discipline
  • RevitMEP training applied to the discipline
  • Achieved or working towards IEng or CEng status
  • BEng/BSc/MEng in applicable engineering discipline
