Mechanical CAD Technician / Mid Weight Design Engineer – Manchester / Warrington / Halifax. Permanent role. Posted 2 days ago. Job Reference: WACAD.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will take ownership of mechanical design tasks from concept through to production, supporting the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective solutions. You will work closely with engineers, project managers and clients to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings, ensuring designs meet all necessary requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Assist in developing mechanical designs from concept to completion
  • Modify and update existing designs based on project or client requirements
  • Collaborate with the wider engineering and production teams
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and ensure designs meet specifications
  • Support prototype builds and testing as required
  • Maintain document control and design revision history
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar Mechanical CAD or Design Engineering role
  • HVAC experience
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, tolerances, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and team-working abilities
  • HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
