Recruitment Assistant at JN Bentley/Mott MacDonald Bentley. Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).

The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK’s most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The SPA is searching for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support and enhance our project delivery team.

What will you be doing as our new Lead Mechanical Engineer?

You will provide support and guidance to our team of mechanical engineers in the creation and development of value-driven solutions, innovation and excellence. You will be responsible for the checking and reviewing of mechanical design deliverables to ensure they are fit for purpose, meet the required standards and specifications, and the project outcomes.

You will be part of one of Europe’s largest water capital delivery projects working on a diverse programme of water treatment; including chemical dosing and conveyancing projects.

You will work collaboratively with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Enabling and Construction Managers, to ensure the design is delivered efficiently in accordance with constructability requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Represent the SPA alliance and provide sector-level leadership for Mechanical Engineering.
  • Collaborate with other discipline engineers and manage quality through the design workflow review to achieve time, cost and quality standards.
  • Ensure that the mechanical deliverables are produced to the required standards and specifications.
  • Produce/check mechanical and hydraulic systems, including pumping systems, plant, building services, and ensure they have been completed to an appropriate level of detail and compliance.
  • Maintain awareness of industry changes, best practice and innovations, and support the Mechanical Engineering team to develop improved ways of working.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours

This job might be for you if you are:

  • Educated to Degree, HNC, HND level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experienced in water-sector assets and capital projects.
  • Knowledgeable of all relevant regulations, standards and codes of practice ensuring compliance with CDM responsibilities.
  • Able to provide support and guidance to others for making complex decisions, understanding the impact of their decisions and to take full responsibility.
  • Able to provide leadership in health, safety and welfare.
