Position

Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer — London | Permanent | £40,000 - £45,000

I'm partnering with a specialist building services consultancy based in London who are known for delivering sustainable, efficient, and innovative engineering solutions. They work closely with leading developers, architects, and contractors on a wide range of residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes, providing high-quality mechanical and electrical design expertise that consistently adds value to their clients\' projects.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive consultancy where you\'ll be central to the design and delivery of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across a variety of London and UK projects. You\'ll be responsible for producing design calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications in line with CIBSE, BSRIA and BRE standards, while also contributing to on-site inspections and testing.

Working alongside your Director/Group Leader, you\'ll help manage projects, coordinate with other disciplines, and maintain strong client relationships throughout the design and delivery process.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing, managing and supervising mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion
  • Preparing detailed design information, specifications, reports, and drawings
  • Supporting project resource planning and monitoring
  • Using thermal modelling software such as IES-ve (or similar) to support design development
  • Liaising with clients and design teams to deliver coordinated, compliant designs
  • Monitoring project progress, variations, budgets, and quality
  • Building and maintaining excellent client relationships, supporting repeat business
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in mechanical building services design within the UK construction sector
  • Strong technical knowledge of CIBSE/BSRIA/BRE guidance
  • Ability to prepare accurate and consistent design information
  • Experience of monitoring building services installations on site
  • Thermal modelling experience (IES-ve or similar) would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
