Overview

We are looking for a HVAC/ Building Services Design Engineer to join the Projects team at Thermatic Technical FM.


As a Thermatic HVAC/ Building Services Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of HVAC/building services including air conditioning, ventilation, heating, public health services and building controls on an array of projects.


Thermatic Technical FM provide complete nationwide coverage, across the full spectrum of Hard FM services to large, commercial clients. Our team of mobile engineers are supported by the account teams at Head Office to provide both reactive breakdown and planned maintenance services to our clients.

Hours & Location of Work

  • Main location - Thermatic Head Office, Salford. Opportunities to work remotely for a portion of the working week will be available
  • Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • HNC, HND, Degree in relevant engineering disciplines as a minimum standard (or working towards).
  • Excellent knowledge and use of desktop IT packages including; Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Teams and AutoCAD release v2020 +.
  • Provide evidence of experience with HVAC and Building Services design, successfully engineered commercial projects of varying size.
  • Demonstrable ability to complete and co-ordinate; feasibility studies, design specifications, detailed engineering designs, calculations, project liaison with contract managers during the lifecycle of the projects.
  • Experience in the FM Industry within an SME environment would be desirable

Responsibilities include

  • Carrying out detailed HVAC/Building Services engineering feasibility designs and proposals to client's performance requirements where given, ensuring compliance with all regulated standards and guidelines (CIBSE, Building regs etc).
  • Developing and preparing bespoke compliant HVAC/ Building Services standards for client approval/sign off where non stipulated/provided for any specific project.
  • Providing documented information (Verified calculations/ Design drawings) to enable Tender submissions to be completed; including preliminary design schemes.
  • Establishing design concepts and site survey specifics with the project team in preparation for client approvals.
  • Co-ordinating project contract documents (specifications/design drawings/equipment supplier orders) and liaising with Project managers to review input.
  • Dealing with day-to-day queries from project sites to ensure timely issue and coordination of information for the construction activity.
  • Reviewing and developing technical knowledge and offer expert advice in support of project requirements.
  • Managing all relevant documents controls to the projects ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued and filed in appropriate manner.
  • Attending client design review meetings and site surveys as required to co-ordinate site services are in line with design intent.
  • Developing positive professional relationships with Clients to benefit open communication about project progress.
  • Utilising AutoCAD software to generate project designs for analysis/review.
  • Supervising AutoCAD technician with daily tasks including review of project workloads, checking and signing off of completed construction drawings for issue to clients/contractors involved in projects.
