Job Role- Hgv Mechanic


Contract length - 4 Month


Location: Kenilworth Road, Solihull, B92 0LP


Salary- £18.56 Per hour PAYE


Job Overview

Arden Wood Shavings Limited manufactures animal bedding out of good quality, recycled soft wood which is delivered to the Main Yard.


Its site near Hampton in Arden is made up of a manufacturing facility, maintenance workshops, a base for HGVs and other vehicles, a storage facility and the main office.


The HGV Mechanic will work alongside other technicians to repair and maintain Arden's fleet of HGVs and trailers, working out of the vehicle maintenance workshop.


The technician will be required to carry out trailer inspections in line with Company requirements, as well as fault finding, PPM and repairs on HGV/LGV units, trailers and moving plant.


Candidates will be willing to work flexible hours within a 9.5 hour shift. Some weekend working will be required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Trailer inspections and repairs
  • Carry out PPM and/or fault finding on HGV/LGV units and trailers
  • Moffat inspections and repairs
  • Hydraulic works on multiple types of equipments
  • Electrical works on multiple types of equipment
  • Work on bespoke "blower" trailers (including blowing equipment)
  • Fault-finding and brake testing/braking systems
  • Pre LOLER inspections to fleet, where applicable
  • Some aspects of welding and fabricating
  • Attend off-site breakdowns
  • On the job training provided

Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in HGV Motor Mechanics required
  • IRTEK qualification desirable
  • HGV licence desirable
  • Autoelectric qualification desirable
  • Hydraulic qualification or experience desirable
  • Good awareness of safe working practices and a positive attitude to H & S
  • Good team working skills
  • Reliable, with a "can-do" attitude
  • Good communications skills
