HGV Mechanic - Cookstown Depot

Location: Cookstown

Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:00pm, Friday 7:30am-4:00pm, Saturday (rotational) 7:45am-12:30pm

Salary: Competitive (based on experience)

About the Role

My client is looking for an experienced and motivated HGV Mechanic to join our team in Cookstown. You\'ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing our diverse fleet of heavy goods vehicles — including low loaders, HIAB cranes, tractor units, and rigid trucks — ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of HGVs.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults using diagnostic software and workshop tools.
  • Work closely with the Stores team to source and fit required parts.
  • Maintain accurate job sheets and service records.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Attend occasional roadside breakdowns when required.
  • Ensure all work complies with company health, safety, and quality standards.
About You
  • Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or similar role.
  • Skilled in fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of diesel engines.
  • Confident using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with a focus on quality and attention to detail.
  • Experience within the truck and trailer industry is essential.
  • A relevant mechanic qualification is desirable.
  • Welding ability is an advantage.
  • Must hold a full, valid driving licence.
