Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service all centrifuges in United Utilities’ fixed and mobile fleets, and set up mobile centrifuge installations
  • Report to the Regional Dewatering Manager and work closely with Production Managers in Bioresources and Wastewater Production Managers in Cumbria
  • Collaborate with the Technical Officer for maintenance of mobile fleet and setup of mobile dewatering equipment

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Primary skill: mechanical
  • Secondary skill: electrical
  • Extensive mechanical engineering experience with centrifuges
  • Experience stripping and maintaining pumps (peristaltic, cavity displacement and centrifugal)
  • Computer literacy is critical
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a pair
  • Take ownership of jobs and equipment

Qualifications

  • Time served in a relevant engineering discipline, HNC, ONC or equivalent in a relevant technical area with engine manufacturer’s training
  • Extensive mechanical engineering experience with centrifugal systems
  • Must have a valid driving licence

About The Team

  • Based in Mersey Valley Processing Centre, Widnes, with travel required across United Utilities’ coverage from Crewe to Carlisle, Liverpool to Oldham
  • May involve nights away; extensive experience maintaining centrifuges and pumps; work with chemicals (e.g., polymer) and diesel fuel
  • Flexible in work hours, early starts and late finishes
